She was also planning on learning to play the accordion to help the sick animals feel better, but alas, that goal did not stand the test of time. Dr. Jaynes is a 2012 graduate of the University of Wisconsin-Madison School of Veterinary Medicine for both her undergraduate and DVM degrees. She is a Badger through and through. Professionally, Dr. Jaynes is interested in ophthalmology and soft tissue surgery. She is also a self-proclaimed crazy cat lady. Dr. Jaynes shares her home with her husband, their two children, a dog named Minnie, and cats named Lily, James, and Nearly Headless Nick. She enjoys reading, hiking, watching hockey, and traveling.
Dr. Rachel Barnes
Dr. Rachel Barnes is a 2014 graduate of The Royal Veterinary College in London, but most of her family hails from the Midwest. Growing up in a military family meant that the horizon changed every few years—living internationally in countries like India and the Bahamas, but also domestically on both coasts and in the Midwest. Thanks to this lifestyle, travel remains one of her biggest hobbies, and it also helped prepare her for the task of living in London for four years while earning her veterinary degree. After graduation, Dr. Barnes worked in a mixed animal practice in Northwest Iowa for a few years (seeing all manner of patients both large and small) before she and her husband packed up their belongings and, serenaded by their newborn son James and two noisy cats, moved back to the Twin Cities in a frigid January in 2017.
Since then, they have bought a home, welcomed their second son, Malcolm, in 2019, and enjoyed their time growing as a family. They have one cat at home, a slightly naughty 2-year-old named Chip. In her free time (if there is such as thing right now), she enjoys cooking, gardening, yoga, and ambitiously working on her own DIY house projects at home. Dr. Barnes has worked in small animal medicine since returning to the Cities and joined the team at the Shakopee Veterinary Clinic in January 2021. While she loves the variety of general practice, she also pursues her own particular interests including ultrasonography, feline medicine, and surgery. She is passionate about helping clients keep their pets healthier and happier, and always has a soft spot for her friendly—and even feisty—feline patient.

Her hobbies include findings new places to hike with her boyfriend and dogs and she is always looking for new ways to redecorate their home.
Stasia’s favorite part of the job is getting to comfort stressed out patients, and the RARE few moments of puppy/kitten snuggles. When she’s not at work, Stasia enjoys hiking or running with Diesel, catching up with friends, and spending lazy days with her husband and the cats.
